Announcing 2012 Painting Workshop in Southern France…
Gaillac is a historical town on the Tarn River 25km west of Albi and 50 km north-east of Toulouse, in the Tarn department of the Midi-Pyrenees. The town originally developed more than 1000 years ago around a Benedictine Monastery. More recently the fame of Gaillac has been built on the fame of the vineyards that surround the town – Gaillac wines are internationally held in very high regard, and you will have ample opportunity to sample and buy them on visits to the town and the region.
Monday, July 2nd
to Monday, July 9, 2012 10AM
$1600 double occupancy will include:
- pick up and drop off at Toulouse Airport and all transportation during the week,

- we will stay in a large “Gite” in the heart of magnificent vineyards.
Painting instruction will be provided by Elaine Lisle
We will also provide oil and solvents so you need not transport these items. You just need to bring your paints, boards, and travel easel.
A typical day might be … awaking to fresh baguette, fruit and confiture, cafe au lait… a short ride to a nearby medieval village… a 3 hour painting session… a pic-nique of salade de chevre-chaud…followed by shopping in a local open-air market… your choice of a 2nd session of painting or returning to the Gite for a rest by the pool… perhaps another painting session in the late afternoon… followed by “un petit gout”, then a leisurely French dinner with delicious local wine, and rest or even more painting til dusk… the sun sets late in the south of france, and you will find you have lots of energy at the end of the day… You can work independently or in a structured setting depending on your personal painting goals. This sojourn is for both professional painters and those looking to learn or improve their plein air technique.

This workshop has been planned by 2 friends, Elaine and Chantal, who have known each other for more than 40 years. They were teenagers when they began corresponding as penpals, and have maintained a lifelong friendship on 2 continents… Now Elaine is a well-known artist in the Philadelphia area who has been to France to paint many times. Chantal, a French native, has lived in the Southwest of France for nearly 30 years. She and her spouse, Marc, also rent their residence in Gaillac and have begun to offer informal tours of the local vineyards, including biking tours of the region.
This is the first time we are offering this workshop so space is limited to 10 participants! We want to offer the group a very tailored, exceptional event, but since this is our inaugural experience, we have set the price at a bargain level. The deadline to sign up with a deposit of $500 is February 15, 2012. There is an early bird discount for signups before January 20,2012. For more information on how to sign up for this workshop, please email Elaine Lisle directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
